Light graffiti is achieved by using a low shutter speed on the camera and taking the photos primarily at night, or in low light. Letting the shutter stay open for a longer amount of time lets more light in, which creates the trails of light that you see.

I found a website that I feel is practically perfect for the first post. Here is a link to the site.

The artists name is Andy Goldsworthy. Quick blurb from Wikipedia: Andy Goldsworthy (born 26 July 1956) is a British sculptor, photographer and environmentalist living in Scotland who produces site-specific sculpture and land art situated in natural and urban settings. His art involves the use of natural and found objects, to create both temporary and permanent sculptures which draw out the character of their environment.

Upon doing a little research, I recognized one of his sculptures. It can be seen right here at home in Des Moines at the Art Center on Grand. Look familiar?

On the page I linked in the beginning, there is a quote: ”We often forget that WE ARE NATURE. Nature is not something separate from us. So when we say that we have lost our connection to nature. What we are really saying is we’ve lost our connection to ourselves.”

This is the basis for this collection of Andy Goldsworthy’s work. Here are a few photos from the page:

Beauty in nature. What is better than that?

It’s spring break time, officially! (as soon as I submit this post). Going to Minneapolis this weekend and I’m making sure to leave my laptop and backpack at home, for I need this break. If I’m lucky, I’ll take some artsy-fartsy pics of my own in MN this weekend, and then I’ll post the when I get home.
